Tesla Posts $105.6 Million Loss But Believes Model S Will Help

has posted a $105.6 million net loss for the second quarter of 2012, and revenue was down 54% to 26.7 million. In the same quarter last year, it posted $58.9 million net loss. sedan. With two models now on sale, it believes that it will break even for 2012 and could be profitable in 2013. 

Production on the Model S is just beginning. Tesla plans to build just 500 in the third quarter but 4,500 in the fourth quarter. The company claims that it has 11,500 orders to fill for the Model S. It is planning to sell 20,000 of them in 2013. 

The next moves for Tesla are to grow globally and continue work on the Model X crossover. It recently opened a store in Oslo, Norway and is opening more stores in smaller cities in the US. The company has also partnered with ToyotaToyotaToyotaJapan, 1937 > present155 models
