DC Design Avanti is India's First Supercar

DC Design is an Indian coachbuilder primarily known for outfitting luxury buses and customizing cars like Jeeps and Hummers. However, it also has a small business of creating cars of its own. Its most recent design will go into limited production as India's first supercar. The DC Design Avanti looks like the combination of a modern Ferrari at the front and is vaguely Lamborghini-esque in the rear. Power, though, comes from a 2.0 liter, Ford Ecoboost engine.

The Avanti's mid-mounted, turbocharged engine produces 240hp and 270lb-ft of torque. There are two choices of transmission: either a Ford-sourced six-speed manual or six-speed, dual clutch transmission. The top speed it limited to 250km/h. The car's curb weight is 1562kg.

The Avanti premiered at the New Dehli Auto Expo. DC Design hopes to make 200 Avantis in 2013, and if it is popular, it will increase production from there. The car sells for 30 lakh rupees- the equivalent of $56,000.

Saw this car on Carbuzz a couple of days ago, and the rear looks absolutley terrible. Looks out of place and wrong.

This is more like a Lotus or a Yes that a supercar (Ferrari, Lamborghini). Small engine in a small car. I am not convinced by the design either. And are they allowed to use the Avanti name? Studebaker...

If the car is anything like their movies... it'll be dancing on the track :)
