is prepping for the Tokyo Motor Show on November 20 and showcasing its low emissions future but also showing its fun side. It will debut its new fuel cell sedan and have four other world premiere vehicles.
Toyota has established its place as one of the leaders in low emissions vehicles. Its hybrids have become the standard of the world in their field, and Toyota has recently been certified as having the best CO2 reduction in Europe. Its target for 2012 was to have its fleet-wide emissions at 127.9g/km of CO2, and its actual fleet-wide emissions for 2012 were 121.9g/km of CO2.
The biggest reveal for Toyota in Tokyo is its FCV Concept that previews its future hydrogen fuel cell-powered mid-size sedan. The production version is on track to go on sale in 2015 for less than $100,000. The four-door sedan has a planned range of 500km (311 miles) and owners will be able to refuel it with hydrogen in three minutes. Its engine produces 134hp.
The look of the concept is meant to bring to viewer’s minds the process by which the car transforms hydrogen into energy and water vapor. The front is dominated by large air intakes and takes some inspiration from the PriusToyota Prius Gen.3Japan, 2010 > present52 versions

, and the side is meant to look like a wave of water crashing to the rear. From the rear, it is supposed to evoke a catamaran’s stern. Toyota says that the styling is close to the production version.
Its next world debut in Tokyo is the JPN Taxi Concept that imagines a future taxi for Tokyo’s streets. It seats five passengers with easy boarding from large, electrically powered doors and a flat floor. A new liquefied petroleum gas hybrid engine maximizes efficiency in city driving. The interior features a large display that shows the driving route and fare information.
Toyota is also showing the FV2 personal mobility concept that would be controlled by the drivers shifting their body like in a motorcycle. It would also use car-to-x communication to connect with other cars on the road and with nearby infrastructure.
The final two world premieres for the show are the Voxy and Noah minivan concepts. They ride on the same platform but with different styling, and they show Toyota’s idea for a next-generation seven-passenger minivan. The Voxy uses a 2.0-liter four-cylinder, and the Noah uses a 1.8-liter hybrid engine. Both will be introduced in Japan in early 2014, but there are no plans to sell them anywhere else at the moment.
While all of these concepts certainly show Toyota’s commitment to building efficient vehicles, it is also bringing some fun cars to Tokyo. First there is the Aqua G Sports, the Prius CToyota Prius cJapan, 2012 > present9 photos
