People in general seem to prefer a well-maintained car

UK research firm ICM Research surveyed 2017 adults in the UK and found that 52% of women surveyed said that they were most impressed by a man with a well-maintained car. The survey was sponsored by UK car service business Kwik Fit.

The survey also found that 5% of the women surveyed said that speed was most impressive by a fast car, and 12% are most impressed by an expensive car.

The women most impressed by speed peaks at over 10% for women 18-25 but falls quickly as they age. The complete opposite is true for those impressed by maintenance. It starts between 20% and 30% for woman 18-25 and rises steadily to nearly 80% for women over 65.

Cleanliness plays less of a factor, though. Fourteen percent said that a clean interior was most important, and just 4% said that the exterior cleanliness was most important.

The survey also looked at men, but the opinions of men and women tended to be similar. Men though value an expensive looking car significantly more than women, 12% for women versus 20% for men. Men care slightly less for a clean interior, 14% for women versus 9% for men. Finally, men also care slightly less about a well-maintained car, 52% for women versus 42% for men.
