, which no one ever expected. The bad news is that it will be limited to just 250 cars for the entire country. Sales will begin in October and will be priced at $32,445.
The C30 Polestar is tuned by Volvo's factory-supported tuner Polestar who also campaigns its cars in the Swedish Touring Car Championship. The C30 Polestar boosts power of the 2.5-liter turbocharged five-cylinder by 23hp and 37lb-ft of torque over the standard top C30 thanks to some software and airflow upgrades. The improved power figure is 250hp and 273lb-ft of torque. Fuel economy remains exactly the same at 21mpg city and 29mpg highway.
Polestar also retunes the suspension with 30% stiffer dampers and 10% quicker steering.
Polestar also adds 17in 'Styx' wheels that are matte black with Polestar center caps, LED running lights, dual xenon headlights and Polestar badges front and rear; all cars will come in Rebel Blue paint. The cars wear a body kit from Volvo R-Design.
Inside, all cars have leather seats in either off-black or two-tone off-black and Calcite, glass sunroof, auto-dimming rearview mirror and a numbered plaque.
The only options are a package that includes an upgraded 650W stereo with 10 speakers and navigation and a package that adds heated front seats and automatic climate control.
The C30 will likely sell out quickly despite the high price tag and modest power increase. The car has an air of exclusivity not found on other Volvos.
