and Golf Estate are getting new technology in the form of Volkswagen’s Car-Net mobile Internet service.  The Golf Estate is also getting progressive power steering as an option.

Car-Net was already available on the GTI and GTD, but now it is available on all Golf and Golf Estate models in Europe. The technology gives the car real time traffic information, Google Street View, Google Earth. It uses the traffic data to suggest alternative routes. It also allows users to search for points of interest through Google.

The R-Line sport package on the Golf Estate now includes progressive steering with variable gear ratios. It quickens the standard steering to 2.1 turns lock-to-lock from the standard car’s 2.75 turns. The package also lowers the car’s ride height by 15mm and adds a 65% tint to the rear side windows and rear glass.
