Cars' sales through October are up 11.2% to 4.72 million cars, compared to 4.24 million cars from January to October last year. October sales alone were up 16.3% to 501,300 cars.
European sales are almost flat for the year so far at 1.44 million cars, up 0.5% over last year. However, when breaking down Europe by region, Central and Eastern European sales are up 28.8% to 223,100 cars. Russian sales are up 50.8% to 91,000 cars. In comparison, Western European sales are down 6% for the year so far to 719,100 cars.
Asian sales are up 17.4% for the year so far to 1.89 million cars, and Chinese sales are up 18.4% to 1.71 million cars.
North American sales are up 25.6% for the year so far to 508,500 cars. US sales are up 35.6% to 357,400 cars.
South American sales are up 8.9% to 699,600 cars.
“We achieved growth, in some cases quite significant, above all outside Europe in October. The picture in Europe, on the other hand, remains difficult. The markets in Western Europe in particular demand our full attention,” said Christian Klingler, VW Cars head of sales and marketing.
