“We are looking at ways we can capitalize on that [trend]. VW has been traditional in the past and has looked towards the mainstream, but there has been a lot of work in this direction. There’s still a lot of debate around the [Taigun] concept because it wouldn’t be traditional, but it is clear that there is a market for it," said Rob Hazelwood, managing director of Volkswagen UK. 

The other possibly for the Up platform is a limited edition Buggy with styling like a modernized Meyers Manx from the 60s. It showed the concept for the car at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show.
