Sales in China are down 9% to 37,633 cars; US sales have a 0% change at 61,929 cars; European Union sales are down 10.6% to 207,392 cars; Swedish sales are down 13.9% to 46,234 cars; and sales in the rest of the world are up 5.5% to 76,442 cars.
Volvo is blaming some of the loss in sales because it is phasing out the C30, S40 and V50, and the V40 is not for sale everywhere yet. It is anticipating that this plus the weak European market will result in lower sales this year compared to 2011.
The brand's best selling car worldwide is the XC60, which has sold 96,278 units. That is roughly a quarter of its global sales.
