Williams F1 Reveals FW34 for 2012 at Jerez

Williams is starting its 35th year in Formula 1 by presenting the FW34 for 2012 at the Winter Test at the Circuit of Jerez.

Williams has a new technical director Mike Coughlan, and the team claims that the 2012 car shares less than 5% of the components with last year's car. Unlike some of the teams like Redbull who are claiming that their car's are evolutionary, Williams has created a totally new design. The car applies to the rules changes so the nose is lower and there is no blown exhaust diffuser. The team is also using Renault engines this season for the first time since 1997. The team did not go into any other specifics about the changes on the new car.

The team will also have a new drivers this season - Bruno Senna. Pastor Maldonado is the second driver. Senna raced for Hispania Racing in 2010, and in 2011 he worked as a test driver and ran in few races for Lotus Renault GP. Maldonado raced for Williams last year and won a single drivers' point point in the entire season.

“One could say that looking at the Williams F1 Team today we are off to a truly fresh start. We have a new car, new driver line up, new engine and new senior personnel. We also have a number of new partners who have joined the team in the past few months," said Team Principal Frank Williams.
