XJ Sentinel: armoured Jaguar makes debut in Moscow

At the end of August Jaguar will be presenting an armoured version of the new XJ luxury sports saloon. Between the 25th and 30th of August the XJ Sentinel will be featuring at the 2010 Moscow International Motor Show.

The XJ Sentinel is virtually indistinguishable from the standard XJ model, offering discreet protection. Nevertheless it is equipped with a state-of-the-art armouring package which gives its passengers up to B7 levels of ballistic protection.

“The XJ Sentinel was designed and developed in partnership with industry leaders, and incorporates the very latest armoured vehicle systems to deliver extremely impressive levels of protection, while maintaining a very discreet appearance,” said Mike O’Driscoll, Managing Director, Jaguar Cars.

While developing the XJ Sentinel, Jaguar engineers focused on ensuring that it kept the real-world usability of the standard car. The Sentinel is based on the long wheelbase XJ and it maintains that model’s luxurious interior package, comfort and agility.

The XJ Sentinel is fitted with a .0-litre 385PS AJ-V8 Gen III naturally aspirated direct-injection V8 petrol engine, which is matted with a six-speed automatic transmission. This powertrain gives the XJ Sentinel the ability to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.7 seconds and to reach a top speed of 195 km/h.
