Lloyd Cars Ltd was established in 1936 in Grimsby, Lincolnshire, England, by Roland Lloyd, who built two car models, one prior to WWII and the other one after the war. The pre-WWII model was a two- seater (open) or three-seater (closed). Production ceased during the war and was resumed in 1946 with a larger, four-seater car. However, the car had a poor engine and performance was bad. Besides, it was quite expensive compared with other family car brands. Contrary to the procedure of most of the car builders at the time, the majority of the Lloyd car components were manufactured in-house. Car production was discontinued in 1952 although the company remained in business in general engineering until 1983.
