Detroit Electric was a small electric carmaker from Detroit, Michigan, that built cars from 1907 to 1930. In this time period the company produced 13.000 cars. With the growing proliferation of internal combustion cars the sales of the Detroit Electric gradually dropped.

In 2008 Don Graunstadt and Albert Lam who both previously worked for Lotus Engineering founded Detroit Electric after Lam bought the rights to the Detroit Electric name.
