599 GTB Fiorano
The Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano was released in 2006, replacing the 575 M Maranello. The model is a combination of different things: its engine displacement, 5999cc, the body-type, gran turismo (GT), and the racing circuit Fiorano that Ferrari uses to tests its cars. 599 GTB Fiorano is Ferrari’s two-seat flagship model. Ferrari also launched a track only version of this model, the 599XX, with 720hp and 9000 rpm.
599XX
The Ferrari 599XX premiered at the 2009 Geneva Auto Show. The model is based on the Ferrari 599 GTB and a pure racing car. Its engine delivers 730 PS (540 kW; 720 hp) at 9000 rpm.
The Italian engineers paid special attention to reducing the weight by use of lighter engine components and composite and carbon-fiber elements. The aerodynamics of the 599XX produce a downforce of 280 kg at 200 km/h, 630 kg at 300 km/h.
In 2011 Ferrari unveiled an evolution of the racecar, the 599XX Evo.
599 GTO
In 2010 Ferrari presented the 599 GTO, a V12 berlinetta and the company’s fastest ever road car. The 599 GTO is based on the 599XX experimental track car.
Ferrari’s 599 GTO has a limited production of 599 units. With a time of 1’24” the 599 GTO set a new record lap time at Fiorano, benefiting racing car technologies.
Powered by a 5999cc 65-degree V12 engine, derived from the 599XX unit, this road car from Ferrari features second-generation carbon-ceramic brakes which are lighter and offer better performance. It also presented some aerodynamic innovations, such as wheel doughnuts which increase aerodynamic efficiency as well as brake cooling, and the Supersport tyres developed by Michelin.
Engineers focused on reducing the weight of the GTO model, with much of the work done with the development of the 599XX. To do so Ferrari engineers increased the use of composites and components manufactured with technologies aiming at racing specifications. They were used on the bodywork and greenhouse, the brakes, transmission and exhaust system.
The 599 GTO had its world premiere at the Beijing International Motor Show 2010.

Ferrari
When it opened, the Scuderia Ferrari (Italian for “Ferrari Stable”) wasn’t meant to produce road cars, but rather for sponsoring amateur drivers and already made racing cars. It was actually supposed to be the first motorsport team independent from factory, although related to Alfa Romeo. Enzo Ferrari always worked for the Alfa Romeo company, in different job positions, until around 1940. Then he quit because that a... more
