The Edge Concept was unveiled at the 2013 LA Auto Show and it gives a strong indication on the look of the second generation Edge, while also showing off new technologies like push-button, remote parking from inside or outside the car.
The concept shows a vehicle with Ford’s modern, compact look with a massive chrome grill, given the size of the car. The grill sloped backward to the hood and features active shutters. Air curtains pull air through the front out of the wheel wells and down the side to improve aerodynamics.
The interior of the concept is lit with blue LEDs and features a leather-covered instrument panel, 10in touchscreen infotainment display and Ford SYNC with voice control. The seats are covered in a mix of fabric and leather. Other than the blue LEDs, it is quite attractive.
European models come standard with a higher level of equipment than American versions because it is what buyers tend to buy. It is offered with an obstacle avoidance system that detects slow-moving objects around the car and can automatically steer around them and brake automatically. It also has adaptive power steering that lightens the steering weight at low speeds.
