Chevrolet Sonic Turbo Now Available with Six-Speed Automatic

Chevrolet will begin offering the Sonic Turbo with a six-speed automatic transmission in the US. 

The automatic does rob the Sonic Turbo of some acceleration but not much. Chevy claims a 0-60mph time for the Sonic Turbo with an automatic as taking eight seconds; whereas it claims 7.8 seconds with the car's current six-speed manual. However, that is still faster than its competitors like the Honda Fit, Hyundai Accent and Ford Fiesta. 

The automatic also takes a hit on fuel economy. With the automatic, the Sonic Turbo is rated at 37mpg highway and 27mpg city. With the manual though, it is rated at 40mpg highway and 29mpg city. 

The manual will still be an option for those drivers who like to row their own gears.
