Greener Ferrari California to debut in Paris

Reports coming from Italy state that Ferrari will be presenting at the end of the month, at the Paris Motor Show, a more fuel-efficient version of its California convertible. This is part of the Maranello brand’s plans to come closer to Europe's tough Euro V emissions laws.

The greener version of the California is expected to be fitted with an improved direct injection system, low friction engine components, multi-cylinder deactivation, and regenerative braking similar to the one that featured in Genevea in the HY-KERS concept car.

In the future and in order to cut CO2 emissions Ferrari is expected also to include V6 and hybrid powertrains to its lineup.

Ferrari is giving little steps into the green area, something that the brand refused for long. In fact, in recent interviews Ferrari President Luca di Montezomolo has admitted that due to the implementation of stricter government standards, the Italian-based company is beginning to stick to the new rules by improving fuel efficiency by 30% and reducing emissions by 40%.

A few years ago the idea of seeing Ferrari go green seemed really far away. Thanks to the new regulations it is nowadays becoming reality.
