Kia has released the first official sketches of the next generation of Rio. According to the brand the new generation will represent “the next big step” in what is being called a design revolution.
The new Kia Rio will be longer, lower and wider than the current model. With its new design Kia wishes to “inject emotional appeal into the B-segment” and will be targeting customers in the 25-to-49 age range.
Peter Schreyer, Kia’s Chief Design Officer, describes the new Rio as “sporty and elegant”. According to the brand the new model will have a swept-back profile and a character line rising out of the front wheel that will give movement and fluidity to the vehicle.
“Downsizing is becoming more and more of a trend these days and a B-segment car as attractive as all-new Rio, with its driver-oriented cabin and interior trim options, will no doubt help consumers to be more comfortable making that switch. New Rio is the ‘next big step’ in Kia’s design revolution and we anticipate this model becoming even more popular than the current vehicle,” comments Soon-Nam Lee, Director of Overseas Marketing, Kia Motors Corporation.
The Geneva International Motor Show, in March, will be the stage of the world debut of the new Kia Rio.
