Sebastien Loeb continues to dominate the 2012 WRC season with another victory in New Zealand. At the end of the third day of the Rally, the french pilot managed to increase its lead over his teammate Mikko Hirvonen and now leads the drivers standings with 145 points, 38 points ahead of Hirvonen. The New Zealand Rally marks the fifth win of the season for Loeb.
Solber Petter and his co-driver Chris Patterson finished third with the Ford Fiesta RS WRC and completed the podium. Also leading the standings are Evegeny Novikov in 4th place, 37.2 seconds behind from Solberg and Thierry Neuville in 5th. The 24-year old French driver shined on his debut in New Zealand. Dani Sordo secured the 6th place for MINI.
Armindo Araujo ended the first day of competition in 8th place, dropped to 9th place in the second day but recovered back to its 8th spot.
The overall driver's standings are led by Loeb with 147 points, Mikko Hirvonen with 107 points and Petter Solberg with 90 points. The constructors' standings are dominated by the Citroen Total World Rally Team with 194 points, followed by the Ford World Rally Team with 121 points and the M-Sport Ford World Rally Team with 91 points.
The eighth round of the World Rally Championship heads to Finland, where it will take place from 2-4 August.
