a power bump and improved transmission over the first year models. 

It is being reported that the engine will see a 25hp power boost thanks to an ECU upgrade bringing total power up to 618hp. The transmission will also get a software upgrade. One final, odd update for 2013 will be a driver-controlled engine sound system. The MP4-12C already has a sound tube that brings the engine noise into the cabin that adjusts itself through a valve. For 2013, drivers will be able to control that valve independently to bring more or less engine noise into the cockpit. 

The smaller updates include software upgrades for Bluetooth and the navigation system. The radio antenna will also be changed for better reception. 

In a very customer friendly move, McLaren will perform all of these upgrades to the 2012 cars for free. The 2013 car goes on sale in September, and the upgrades to existing cars will begin in October.
