Opel Corsa receives facelift for model year 2011

Opel has announced a facelift for 2011 on its small model Corsa. After being renewed in 2010 the Corsa now receives a redesigned face that offers a sportier look that brings it closer to the latest Opel design family, including the new Astra.

In 2011 the facelifted Corsa will also debut a new engine to its range, the ecoFLEX, 1.3 CDTI. This engine develops 95 hp and features Start/Stop technology as standard. With a fuel consumption of 3.5 liters per 100 km, the three-door version produces emissions of 94 g/km of CO2. The five-door variant delivers 3.6 l/100 km and emits just 95 g/km CO2.

In terms of design changes have come to offer a sportier look. To achieve it there has been a re-proportioning of the upper and lower grilles. The lower grille has become wider and taller, which has visually widened the Corsa. The current horizontal grille bars have been replaced on the new face and the Opel logo has been integrated into a newly designed larger and sculptured chromed bar.

The facelift on the Corsa also includes a new set of headlamps along with the wing-shaped daylight signature lamp that made its debut in the Insignia and is now featured in all new Opel products.

The new Corsa will be offered in different trim colors and will have an extended color palette for the exterior.

Having suffered major technological changes in early 2010 in terms of chassis and powertrain, the Corsa has been able, throughout the year, to increase its share of market in several European markets, including Italy, the UK, Spain and Germany.

As a very popular car in Europe, the Corsa represents around 27 percent of all Opel/Vauxhall sales and puts itself among the leaders in its segment. Over the last three years more than 400,000 units have been sold annually, on average.
