BMW has already revealed that it will be bringing the X1 to the US later this year, but it did not release much information. Now BMW has come back and is revealing significantly more about the US version of the compact SUV.
BMW had originally said that it would be offering the X1 with just a four-cylinder engine, but now it has revealed that it will also have a six-cylinder available. The X1 will be available with BMW's 2.0l, turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 245hp with either rear- or all-wheel drive. The 3.0l turbocharged six-cylinder with 306hp will also be available but only with all-wheel drive. Auto stop/start comes with the 2.0 liter versions, but Brake Energy Regeneration and electric power steering come on all models.
The X1 is a compact SUV carrying the current BMW look. It has contrasting, aluminum trim along the bottom of the truck to give an off-road capable look. Inside, it carries BMW's driver-centric cockpit.
The X1 will go on sale in the US in September.
