has announced a concept for the Frankfurt Motor Show that it calls the Hybrid-R. It says that the car will bring track technology to the road, and that is about all we know at the moment. However, there is a good possibility that this is the sports car that Toyota has been developing with BMWBMWBMWGermany, 1918 > present87 models

Toyota's announcement of the car covers just two lines: "At the forthcoming 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show, Toyota will present an exciting new concept that brings Toyota Hybrid System-Racing technology to the road (and track)."

BMW and Toyota announced a partnership on hybrid technology on June 29, 2012. Part of the deal was that the two companies would development the architecture and components for a future sports car. Since that time, we have heard rumors that Toyota may position this new car as a spiritual successor to the SupraSupra Gen.4Toyota Supra Gen.4Japan, 1993 > 20029 versions

start-stop system is the only production car in the world to offer an ultra capacitor-based hybrid system.

Ultra capacitors are perfect for sports cars. They are small, lightweight, have the power density of a battery and discharge quickly. Their downside is that, unlike a battery, ultra capacitors can only discharge completely. They provide all of their power at once.

We wil know more about the car on September 10 at Toyota's press conference.
