is on track to have its best sales year ever and set sales records in August and in the first eight months of the year. It sold 139,648 cars in August, a 14.8% increase over August 2012, and has sold 1,246,528 cars from January through August, a 7.7% increase over the same period in 2012.
"For the very first time, we sold over one million BMW brand vehicles in the first eight months of the year. The company is well on course to attain growth in sales for the full year," said Ian Robertson, BMW head of sales and marketing.

saw sales gain 22.5% over last August to 9,662 cars worldwide. That is mostly attributable to strong sales in Asia where the Mini brand grew 31.1% in China and 22.5% in Korea in August. From January to August, the Mini brand is up just 0.2% from the same period last year.
Regionally, Asia has taken over as BMW's biggest for sales in August. It sold 48,620 cars there, a 27.9% increase. For the year through August, sales are up 17.7% to 367,441 cars.
Europe is the brand's second largest, and it sold 48,218 cars in Europe in August. But that was 2.3% lower than the previous August. For the year through August, BMW sales are up 0.1% in Europe to 548,148 vehicles.
The Americas had BMW's biggest sales gain in August. It sold 37,672 cars there, a 29.3% increase. For the year through August, BMW has sold 288,189 cars in the Americas, a 12.2% increase.
