Forstars

The SUV concept is called the Forstars for its open glass roof. It seats two and is nearly entirely wrapped in glass, including a convex glass top over the passenger compartment. Smart has also integrated a video projector into the hood. The car is 603mm longer than a Smart Fortwo and 193mm wider but still has the short overhangs important to a Smart.

The Forstars blends the look of a Smart with a slightly taller ride height. It has rhomboid headlights with LED running lights. While it looks like a hood scoop, there is a video projector mounted in the front. In the rear, the right taillight can be opened to reveal the charging socket. The Forstars is painted in a color that Smart calls Alubeam Rouge. The rear glass retracts into the rear door but still has a 900mm cargo area. The projector mounted in the hood is controlled via Bluetooth from an iPhone. There are speakers mounted in the doors.

Power comes from an 80hp and 135Nm of torque electric motor with a 17.6kWh battery pack that is the same as the Brabus electric drive and rides on 21in wheels. Its top speed is 80mph.

Inside, the surfaces are colored mother of pearl with brushed aluminum and the Alubeam Rouge from the exterior. The seat shells are open in the middle and just covered with thin fabric. Smart says that a hammock inspired this style. In theory, the covers could be removed and replaced to change the interior's color. The rest of the seats are covered in white leather with white piping. Similar perforated leather is used on the doors.

Smart Brabus electric drive

The Smart Brabus electric drive goes on sale on September 27 with 80hp and 135Nm of torque. It takes 10.2 seconds to get to 100km/h but just 4.4 seconds to 60km/h. The top speed is 81mph, and it has a range of 90 miles.

The car rides on 16in wheels in the front and 17in in the rear. The instrument panel, door panels and seats are all covered in leather. It also gets stainless steel pedals, Brabus handbrake, and a unique rear bumper. The car is also offered with an electric green style package that adds green trim to the outside of the car.

Prices start at €29,990 for the coupe and €33,080 for the cabrio. These prices include 19% German VAT.
