is launching its new smartwatch at its European headquarters in Switzerland. What makes Nissan’s smartwatch different is that it can connect with Nissan vehicles and provide performance data and biometric data to the driver.
The Nissan Nismo Concept Watch monitors the car’s average speed, fuel economy, telematics, track times, heart rate and receive message from Nissan. Users can upload the data to social media sites and track changes in their performance.
It will be sold in black, white and black and red. The controls are just two buttons on the watch. It is powered by a lithium battery and data can be downloaded via a micro-USB port.
The packaging is made from recycled tires.
"Wearable technology is fast becoming the next big thing and we want to take advantage of this innovative technology to make our Nismo Brand more accessible. On track, Nissan uses the latest biometric training technologies to improve the performance of our Nissan Nismo Athletes and it is this technology we want to bring to our fans to enhance their driving experience and Nismo ownership," said Gareth Dunsmore, Nissan’s head of marketing.
In the future, Nissan plans to ECG and EEG monitoring to the watch to identify early fatigue and concentration levels. It also wants to monitor skin temperature and hydration levels.
