Volvo Coming to Tokyo with Upgraded 2014 Range

Volvo is bringing its Concept Coupe to Tokyo to show its future design

Volvo is using the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show has its chance to launch its upgraded 2014 model year cars. It is the first time that it has attended the show in seven years.

Volvo is also bringing its Concept Coupe to Tokyo to show off its future styling direction for the company. It is promising two more concepts in the coming years to show the company’s design future, and it has the new XC90 coming in 2014.

“We are creating a new product portfolio that blends a strong heritage with innovative technology and emotional design. Every core area is brought into a new dimension, also injecting more emotion into the rational properties that are the heart and soul of Volvo,” says Lex Kerssemakers, head of product strategy at Volvo.

The biggest change to the Volvo lineup is the introduction of its Drive-E engine family. All of the engines are four-cylinders and turbocharged and in some cases supercharged as well. They are launching with the 306hp T6 that is both supercharged and turbocharged, 245hp turbocharged T5 and 181hp D4 turbodiesel. In some cases the previous generation of engines are carried over as well, but Volvo plans to drop them from the lineup in the near future

are all receiving a new, simplified front end with less chrome. The LED daytime running lights have been moved below the headlights in the new front end as well. Inside, Volvo is promising better interior quality, and it is launching its Sensus infotainment system available on all of them with improved human-machine interface, cloud services, 3D maps, function as a WiFi hotspot and music streaming through Bluetooth. Several models are also getting the option of sport seats and a heated steering wheel.

AWD that will be offered globally as a police vehicle. It currently sells a little over 500 police cars globally a year and hopes to double that in the coming years. The chassis of the XC70 police car has been upgraded with new anti-roll bars, shocks and springs, and Volvo is offering a wide variety of customization to tune the car to any nation’s police force.

Volvo V60

The 2014 V60 gets the 306hp T6, 245hp T5 and 181hp D4 versions of Vovlo's new Drive-E four-cylinder engine family and all of them offer an eight-speed automatic transmission. It also has a new front grill design. 

Volvo XC70

The 2014 XC70 gets the 306hp T6, 245hp T5 and 181hp D4 versions of Vovlo's new Drive-E four-cylinder engine family and all of them offer an eight-speed automatic transmission. The 215hp D5 is also available. It also has a new front grill design with daytime running lights. Improved skid plates protect it underneath.

Volvo XC60

The 2014 XC60 gets the 306hp T6, 215hp D5 and 181hp D4 versions of Vovlo's new Drive-E four-cylinder engine family and all of them offer an eight-speed automatic transmission. The 215hp D5 is also available. It also has a new front grill design and new interior with wood inlays and new headliner.

Volvo V70

The 2014 V70 gets the 306hp T6, 245hp T5, 215hp D5, 181hp D4 and 115hp D2. Most of them come from Vovlo's new Drive-E four-cylinder engine family and  offer an eight-speed automatic transmission. It has the new front end design like the rest of the cars that make it look wider and lower.

Volvo S80

The 2014 S80 gets the 306hp T6, 245hp T5, 215hp D5, 181hp D4 and 115hp D2. Most of the engines comes from Volvo's new Drive-E four-cylinder turbocharged engine family and offer an eight-speed automatic. It also has a new front grill design with daytime running lights

Volvo V60 Plug-in Hybrid

The 2014 V60 Plug-In Hybrid gets a new Pure Limited trim level and new front end to match the rest of Volvo's models. It also has improved interior material quality and optional sport seats.

Volvo S60

The 2014 S60 gets the 306hp T6, 245hp T5 and 181hp D4 versions of Vovlo's new Drive-E four-cylinder engine family and all of them offer an eight-speed automatic transmission. It also has a new front grill design with relocated LED running lights and improved interior material quality. Sport seats are also available.
