Dacia

Named after the designation given by Romans to the East-Central Europe, Dacia was founded in Romania, in 1966. The first car produced by Dacia was the 1100, based on the Renault 8, to which it was virtually identical. Dacia continued to work closely with Renault models and this carmaker ended up buying Dacia in 1999.

The brand offers economic models in the subcompact to the SUV segment and its cars are sold worldwide. Dacia is especially successful in Central and Eastern Europe, where it has traditionally high market shares.
