Hansa-Lloyd Werke AG had its plant in Bremen and resulted from a merger in 1914 of the Hansa Company (founded in 1905) and Norddeutsche Automobil und Motoren GmbH (founded in 1908 and owned by Norddeutsche Lloyd Shipping Company). Hansa produced luxury cars and also some smaller models. In 1930 the company was bought by Carl F. W. Borgward, owner of Goliath Factory, and production of Hansa luxury cars was ceased. Only small cars were still being built but by the mid 1930’s the Hansa brand started being phased out in favour of Hansa Borgward, then Borgward Hansa and at last Borgward. The plant was entirely destroyed during WWII.
