In 2001 Kia Motors introduced a new model to its lineup: the Kia Rio. The model is currently in its thirdgeneration and has been produced in both five-door hatchback and four-door sedan body styles.
The Rio was unveiled in 2000 to replace the first-generation Pride, a rebadged version of the Ford Festiva, and the Avella, a subcompact sold as a Ford in some markets.
In 2005 Kia introduced a second generation Eio based on a redesigned platform shared with the Hyundai Accent.
