The new 2012 B-Class, a compact sports tourer, shares its platform with the new A-Class and unlike the first generation versions', the new B-Class will be able to share engines and other components with larger Mercedes' models.

To give a more sporty appeal to the car, Mercedes added new lines that improve the aerodynamics of the vehicle, new lines on the bonnet that flow from the roof, a wide new grille and new headlamps. The new B-Class is also 5 centimetres lower than its predecessor, the sitting position of the passengers is more upright and the headroom was also improved. So in general and in spite of being lowered, the car offers more space and comfort to the passengers.

Internally named W246, the new generation will be receiving some new features that include: a new four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine with direct injection, a new diesel engine, a new 7G-DCT dual clutch transmission, a new 6-speed manual transmission and new assistance systems.

Mercedes-Benz B-Class was launched in 2005. In some markets like Canada, Australia, Mexico and Chile, where the A-Class isn’t sold, it’s Mercedes entry level model. This small family car is described by Mercedes as a Compact Sports Tourer, and it’s basically a larger version of the A-Class. The model was refreshed in 2008, to keep up with exterior design of the A-Class and the M-Class.   more
