Mini celebrated back-to-back wins at the Dakar Rally in 2012 and 2013 with the new John Cooper Works Countryman ALL4 Dakar Winner 2013 special edition. Stéphane Peterhansel and Jean-Paul Cottret won the rally in January of 2013, and the win marked the eleventh win of the rally by Peterhansel. To commemorate that, Mini will build eleven Dakar editions, and they will only be sold in Peterhansel's native France.
The car is basically a John Cooper Works Countryman redesigned to look like the Dakar-winning car. Power still comes from a 218hp turbocharged four-cylinder engine with Mini's ALL4 all-wheel drive system. The exterior is painted black with green stripes. The stripes and rear also have the Dakar Rally winner logo on them. The front doors have the number 302 on them to reflect the winning car that Peterhansel and Cottret drove. The car gets unique, black 19in wheels as well.
The interior also carries the black and green color scheme. There is green contrast stitching in the black leather gearshift cover, green trim on the floor mats and green trim strips around the interior. The steering wheel is covered in black leather, as well.
