Peerless

Peerless Motor Company was founded in Cleveland, Ohio in 1900, aiming at high-quality, high-priced automobiles. They also built racing cars, the Peerless proving its endurance and speed by establishing some world speed records with its Green Dragon driven by Barry Oldfield. Peerless cars were known for the design innovations. Also, it was the first car having the engine mounted in the front. Together with Packard and Pierce-Arrow, they became known as the “3 P’s of Motordom” in the USA, which meant premium vehicles. Regrettably, the Peerless Company began to stagnate during the decades of 1910’s 1920’s and began to make more economic cars. In 1930 a design of a new model was assigned to Frank Hershey but due to financial problems the prototype was never produced. The last Peerless was built in 1931.
