Jean Rondeau was the only driver to win Le Mans with a car of his own construction and design. Rondeau started his own team in 1978 and set up a factory near Le Mans to manufacture and design his cars. The victory in Le Mans arrived two years later, with Jean- Pierre Jaussaud in the team. 19 models were built before the death of Rondeau, hit in his car by a train.
