The RUF CTR was first introduced in 1987. The sporscar based on the Porsche911 became also known as CTR Yellowbird or just Yellowbird.

The CTR 2 was launched in 1995, based on the Porsche 911 993 and was equipped standard all-wheel-drive and a tuned version of the Porsche-built 3.6 litre, twin-turbocharged flat-six engine with an output of 520 hp (388 kW) which was later increased to 580 hp (433 kW).

The CTR 3 is the third generation CTR model and manufactured by RUF Automobile since 2007. Different from the previous two generations which had rear-engine layout, the CTR 3 is a mid-engine sportscar. It features a twin-turbocharged 3.8 litre flat-six cylinder engine producing 700 HP at 7,000 rpm. The maximum torque is 657 ft/lbs at 4,000 rpm. The CTR 3 accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 3.2 seconds, and its maximum speed is 375 km/h (235 mph).
