Smiles AG is located in Aub near Würzburg, Germany, and specialized in the production of electric cars. In 1995 Citycom Denmark took over El Trans As, the Danish manufacture of the minicar CityEl and moved to Germany where the company is building the CityEl since 1996. The CityEl is a three-wheeled, light-weight, electric car, suitable for urban errands. Thanks to is low fuel consumption and low cost it is becoming quite popular in Germany. The company was renamed Smiles AG in 2009 and offers other electric vehicles besides the CityEL, such as a small passenger car and a light commercial truck.
