SMZ (acronym of Serpukhovskiy Moto Zavod) was founded in July 1939 in Serpukhov, near Moscow, Russia. The company specialized in the production of motorcycles and escalators. After WWII the company started building automobiles. SMZ’s were micro cars, generally intended to disabled people. Production was discontinued in 1997.
