Besides the disel SQ5 TDI, Audi announced a petrol version of the sport SUV that will use Audi's 3.0 TFSI engine with 354hp and 347lb-ft of torque. The car will make its world debut at the North American International Auto Show on January 14.

The new petrol-fueled version sprints to 100km/h in 5.3 seconds with a top speed of 250km/h (155mph). The diesel version takes 5.1 seconds to get to 100km/h and has the same 250km/h electronically limited top speed. It has a combined fuel economy of 8.5l/100km (21mpg US) and emits 199g/km of CO2.

The engine uses a supercharger with two rotors spinning at over 20,000rpm and compresses air to 0.8bar (11.6psi). It uses two intercoolers to cool the air.

Power is sent to all four wheels via an eight-speed Tiptronic transmission with torque vectoring all-wheel drive.
